I’m Dr. Rob Ballantyne, a licensed clinical psychologist and registered yoga teacher based in Chicago. I offer in-person therapy as well as telehealth sessions to clients in over 40 states through PSYPACT. I earned my degrees from University of Michigan and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and bring almost 20 years of experience to you from diverse clinical settings—including hospitals, universities, an LGBTQ+ community center, rehabs, and crisis centers.

I value a holistic approach to mental health, meaning I consider not just your current symptoms and history but also the ways culture, nutrition, lifestyle choices, medications, substances, and medical issues may interact with your distress. My approach blends evidence-based psychotherapies with mindfulness meditation, science-based somatic yoga tools, and Eastern philosophies related to mental health, creating an expansive space for growth and healing. Outside of work, I’m an adventurer, educator, and lifelong learner who draws inspiration from nature and cross-cultural connection.

A bodhi tree is the fig tree under which the Buddha was believed to have obtained enlightenment. My hope for you on your therapy journey is that together we help you obtain your own enlightenment in your life, helping you gain the tools and wisdom to overcome challenges to becoming your best self in your life and relationships.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers a supportive and empowering space to help you break free from unhelpful patterns, deepen self-understanding, and reclaim a sense of control and fulfillment in your life. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, identity concerns, self-esteem, and life transitions using an integrative and multiculturally sensitive approach.

Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT)

Couples therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps partners break out of painful conflict cycles and build deeper, more secure emotional bonds. With advanced training in EFT, I guide couples toward clearer communication, greater understanding, and lasting connection backed by decades of research.

Shift Your Mood Yoga Course

After using the tools in yoga to heal from trauma, I have built a course to teach you all the tools to shift your mood and find peace on days you struggle. Expand your nervous system's ability to tolerate distress, build internal skills for emotion regulation, and develop a positive relationship with yourself to rely less on reaching for a substance to cope with stress. Many techniques take under 10 minutes to do!
